Evening Picture: Rahul’s comments on Indian democracy, G20, bypoll victories — the social media round-up

The Congress on Friday posted clips on X from Rahul Gandhi’s press conference in the Belgian capital of Brussels, where he claimed that he had discussed with Members of the European Parliament “the attack on democratic institutions” in India.

In response to a question on the recent debate over the names India and Bharat for the country, Rahul said it was interesting that these “distractions” come up whenever the Opposition raises questions about his government’s links to industrialist Gautam Adani. India or Bharat was also a similar issue, he added.

The Congress also posted clips from party president Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit to Chhattisgarh where he said that “religion and politics are two different things and must not be mixed”. Kharge’s comments came at a time when DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments on Sanatan Dharma sparked a furore.
